"Fear not, O Jacob my servant, says Jehovah, for I am with you; for I will make a full end of all the nations where I have driven you: but I will not make a full end of you, but correct you in measure; yet will I not leave you wholly unpunished." - God, through the prophet Jeremiah, speaking to Israel, 600 BC.
In other words, although the Jews will suffer terrible persecution, they will not lose their identity. Boutros Boutros Ghali has said that the Jews should forfeit their land and get assimilated among other peoples. God is saying that He will not let that happen. The following is a list of some nations living around Israel in 1500 BC:
You may not have heard of them. That’s because they all lost their identity before the time of Jesus Christ. The following is another list of nations existing in around 1500 BC:
All of these nations can still be identified by their geographical locations. However, the language, culture and religion that these nations had in ancient times were lost forever when they were overtaken by Islam (which originated in Saudi Arabia). While the people still exist (although in many cases, most of the people were massacred and replaced by Arab Muslims), their religious/cultural/linguistic identity does not.
Here in India, there have been great empires in the past, but all have lost their identity. When the British came here, India was a collection of small princely states. After the British left, India and Pakistan were formed. In the Indian peninsula, there is no –nation–, complete with its ethnicity, language, culture and religion, that has maintained its identity for 3500 years.
In stark contrast to this, the Israelis, after 1900 years of exile are back in their ancient homeland, speaking the same Hebrew, and performing the same religious rituals! What explains the difference? God’s purposes! Only God could see to it that a nation that is hunted and slaughtered all over the world will retain its identity and return back to its homeland! Not only has God done this, but He’s declared it in advance in Prophecy # 15! God says:
“Thus says Jehovah the Mighty God, He who created the heavens and stretched them out, spreading out the earth and its offspring; Who gives breath to the people on it and spirit to those who walk on it. Behold, the former things have come to pass, and new things I declare; before they spring forth, I proclaim them to you.” - Isaiah 42: 5, 9
Jehovah, the God of the Bible even goes on to challenge other supposed gods:
“Present your case, says Jehovah; approach [to argue] your defense, says the King of Jacob. Let them approach, and confess to us what shall happen; let them disclose the former things, what they are, that we may determine a finding and know the final outcome; or proclaim to us things to come. Make known the things to come after this, so that we may know that you are gods. Yes, do good, or do evil, so that we may anxiously watch it together. Behold, you are nothing, and your work is nothing. He who chooses you is an abomination.” - Isaiah 41:21-24
Dear reader, the purpose of quoting this passage from the Bible is not to offend you. I’m only concerned with the truth. There are several books and writings purporting to be from God, but where is their authentication? The God of the Bible has authenticated Himself and His message, the Bible, by delivering far reaching prophecies and then working through history to fulfill them. If you can find any such authentication by any other god, let me know.
"The days come, says Jehovah, that it shall no more be said, Jehovah lives, who brought up the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt [an event that occurred around 1500 BC] but, Jehovah lives, who brought up the children of Israel from the lands of the north, and from all the lands where he had driven them: and I will bring them again into their land that I gave unto their fathers" - God, speaking through the prophet Jeremiah to Israel, 600 BC.
The RSS is a right wing Hindu organization. In an interview to the Indian Express published on August 10, 2008, senior RSS leader Madan Das Devi, talking about a unified India said, “We always give the example of Israel. For 1800 years, Israelis lived outside Israel. If they could keep their desire of living in Israel alive so long, why can’t we?”
Madan Das Devi makes an interesting comparison. What's the difference between Israelis and other people? God's purposes!! God does the impossible with them to let all the world know that He is God!
God is saying that He will bring the Israelis back to Canaan from all the ends of the earth to where He has scattered them! We have seen that happen in the last 100 years. The process however, is not finished. There are still many Jews living outside Israel. On a per capita basis, the State of Israel is the highest absorber of immigrants in the world.
There are some other prophetic passages on the same subject: Ezekiel was a Jewish exile and prophet. He had a strange vision in around 580 BC:
“The hand of Jehovah was upon me and brought me out by the Spirit of Jehovah, and made me rest in the midst of the valley; and it was full of bones. Then He caused me to pass by them all around, and behold, there were very many in the open valley; and indeed they were very dry. And He said to me, Son of man, can these bones live? So I answered, O Lord Jehovah, You know. Again He said to me, Prophesy to these bones, and say to them, O dry bones, hear the Word of Jehovah! Thus says the Lord Jehovah to these bones: Behold, I will cause breath to enter into you, and you shall live. I will put sinews on you and bring flesh upon you, cover you with skin and put breath in you; and you shall live. And you shall know that I am Jehovah. So I prophesied as I was commanded. And as I prophesied, there was a noise, and behold, a shaking; and the bones came together, bone to its bone. And as I looked, the sinews and the flesh came upon them, and the skin covered them over; but there was no breath in them. Then He said to me, Prophesy to the spirit; prophesy, son of man, and say to the spirit, Thus says the Lord Jehovah: Come from the four winds, O spirit, and breathe on these slain, that they may live. So I prophesied as He commanded me, and the spirit came into them, and they lived, and stood upon their feet, an exceedingly great army.” - Ezekiel 37:1 to 10
What is the interpretation? God himself gave the interpretation to Ezekiel:
"Then He said to me, Son of man, these bones are the whole house of Israel. Behold, they say, Our bones are dry, our hope is lost, and we ourselves are cut off! [But] I will put My Spirit in you, and you shall live, and I will place you in your own land. And you shall know that I, Jehovah, have spoken it and performed it, says Jehovah.” – Ezekiel 37: 11, 14
Amazing! Israel in exile is likened to a bunch of dry skeletons. The process of restoration involves:
Now look at history:
Till 1900 it was all dry bones. The Jews were without a homeland, scattered and hunted all over the world.
In the start of the 20th century, in France, Theodore Herzl felt that the Jews continued to suffer because they didn't have a homeland. He published a booklet - The Final Solution - where he expressed this thought. The Jews united around it. The publishing of the tract and the consequent development of Zionism can be taken as the noise. Some Jews went and stayed in Palestine, amidst great hardship.
Soon after this, the First World War took place. - the shaking. When Britain was on the verge of defeat, Weizmann discovered Trinitrotoluene, which proved to be a breakthrough that enabled the British to win. When the PM asked Weizmann for a reward, he, a Jew, asked for a land. At that time, Palestine was in the hands of the Turks. With some reluctance, the secretary Balfour allowed the Jews to enter the land - the Balfour declaration. The military general who was entrusted with ensuring a free passage to the Jews to Jerusalem, Allenby was coming from Cairo to Jerusalem. He did not want to shed blood in Jerusalem as he was a Christian. The Turks did not resist, and Allenby entered Jerusalem. The Jews could enter. The bones came together.
In WW2, Albert Einstein, a German Jew fled Germany for the US and warned the president that they had better make an atom bomb before Hitler does. When news of the Holocaust spread, there was a rare twinge of the conscience of the world. The newly formed United Nations decided in favor of a Jewish homeland (which they would never do today!). That was the flesh in place.
The Jewish prophet Isaiah, writing in 700 BC, compared the holocaust and the consequent birth of Israel to a woman suffering in labor pains, and then giving birth to a child.
“Who has heard such a thing? Who has seen such things? Shall the earth give birth in one day? Or shall a nation be born at once? For as soon as Zion went into labor, she brought forth her children” – Isaiah 66:8
Thus, the nation of Israel was established (after 1900 years, if you count its subjugated existence to Rome, and 2500 years, if you count its independent existence) in 1948. On the day when Israel was formed, King Farook was hell bent on drowning the Jews in the Red Sea. Miraculously, the Arabs were defeated. The flesh was in place.
What remains to be fulfilled is the life. As a nation, the Israelis have never acknowledged God's hand in bringing them back! According to the Bible, they will, and they will turn to God, but this will require another world war – everyone against Israel. Such an event is (obviously) yet in the future! Looking at world politics today, the time does not seem too far away.
Another extremely interesting observation concerning the exile and return of the Jewish people is that the productivity of Palestine is linked to the presence of Jews. When the land is vacant or occupied by Arabs, it becomes a desert. When the Jews occupy it, it blooms. For 1900 years, Palestine was desolate. In the last 100 years, Jews have poured in and today Israel is home to some of the best greenhouses, dairy farms and orchards in the world!
In August 2005, Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon committed the crime of giving some of the land that God had given Israel to the Arabs (surely, you know what happened to him after that?). Israeli settlements were removed and were handed over to “Palestinians”. Now check out the following news items.
PA FARMERS IN GAZA: HOW DO THOSE ISRAELIS DO IT?
By Hillel Fendel (Arutz-7 12/13/05)
After years of producing bug-free lettuce and other vegetables for Jewish farmers, the sands of Gaza have reverted to their old ways. PA farmers report failure in keeping the bugs away. The Gaza Arabs who have taken over the hothouses of what used to be Gush Katif reported to the Israel-PA Coordination Office that they have failed in raising bug-free vegetables. In addition, the PA workers complain that their wages from their compatriots and brethren are significantly lower now than what they received from the Israelis.
Arutz-7's Haggai Huberman reports that the Jews of Gush Katif operated
3,600 dunams (890 acres) of hothouses as of last year, of which the PA
- with international help - has managed to activate three-fourths. The Arabs had hoped to build on the Jews' success, selling to the market the Israelis had built up over the years. The bug-free vegetables were particularly attractive to the religious and hareidi-religious publics, for reasons of kashrut.
The Jews who first arrived in Gaza some 30 years ago were repeatedly told by the Arabs who welcomed them that the land was "cursed" and that they would never succeed agriculturally. Benny Ginzberg, standing last May in the large Katif-Atzmona dairy he managed, pointed at the houses of the Arab city of Khan Yunis, several hundred meters away, and said, "Those houses have been here since before the Six Day War. If they wanted this land, what stopped them from spreading out to here before? ... When we first came, they told us that we were crazy for even trying to build something here. 'The land is cursed,' they told us. Well, we built something, something very great..."
Ma'yan Yadai, a 27-year-old mother of two who was thrown out of Gush Katif - she was originally a Croatian Catholic who converted to Judaism, fled Yugoslavia, and moved to Netzer Hazani - spoke about Gush Katif before a gathering of the National Council of Young Israel in New York recently. She said, "It is difficult for me to believe that this
obviously blessed area is the very same area that our Moslem neighbors called the ‘cursed land’ of El G’erara. They have told me that nobody lived in this area from the time that the last Jews left because there was not enough rain, and nothing could grow properly. They were happy when the Jews returned because the rain started again, and the land began to produce."
Farmers in Gush Katif were considered among Israel's most successful;their total annual exports totaled $100 million, or 15% of Israel's agricultural exports. Of Israel's exports abroad, Gush Katif exported to Europe 95% of the bug-free lettuce and greens, 70% of the organic vegetables, 60% of the cherry tomatoes, and 60% of the geraniums. Israel's largest plant nursery was in the Gush Katif community of Atzmonah. Other Katif produce included spices, green, red and yellow peppers, celery and more.
Israel's Defense Ministry sources told Huberman that the Palestinian Authority farmers were unable to develop the techniques necessary for bug-free produce.
Some of the original Israeli greenhouses were damaged or destroyed by Arabs immediately after Israel withdrew, but the PA was able to rebuild them. As of now, the only crop the Arabs are raising successfully is strawberry.
A related item:
Bill Gates is currently the largest philanthropist in the world. Up until recently his organization has dealt only with charitable donations concerning global health. Recently his organization provided most of the funds used to purchase the greenhouses from Gush Katif residents at a very low price, and were handed over to the "Palestinian" Authority [P.A.]. A representative from the foundation has confirmed that the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation contributed ten million dollars to the transfer purchase price. This donation was done outside the foundation's normal scope of global health, and evidently it was requested that all parties involved keep the details confidential. The quickly brokered fourteen million dollar deal [accomplished by James Wolfenston, former World Bank President] gave the P.A. the responsibility of the greenhouses. As soon as Israel completed the withdrawal the greenhouses were quickly looted and most of them completely destroyed. Those greenhouses that still exist are not up to par with the production of their previous Jewish owners, who alone have succeeded in producing bug free produce in Gaza. It is also reported that some of the Gaza Arab residents are asking US AID to rehire some of the expelled Jews to come back and assist. - Tzemach News Service, 15 Apr 2006
“For Jehovah will comfort Zion; He will comfort all her waste places; and He will make her wilderness like Eden, and her desert like the garden of Jehovah. Joy and gladness shall be found in it, thanksgiving and the voice of melody.” - Isaiah 51:3
Dear reader, I hope you're not turning a blind eye to God's workings in history!
