Truth That Matters

"What will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul?" - Jesus Christ

The Millenium

The Millenium will be a wonderful time of peace and prosperity in which Christ rules from Jerusalem after his Second Advent. The duration, as the name suggests, is a thousand years:
"Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years." - Revelation 20:6
Let's look at various features of the Millenium:-

The cruelty and violence that we see in nature will be rectified:
"The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the kid; and the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; and a little child shall lead them. And the cow and the bear shall feed; their young ones shall lie down together: and the lion shall eat straw like the ox. And the sucking child shall play on the hole of the asp, and the weaned child shall put his hand on the cockatrice’ den. They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain: for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the LORD, as the waters cover the sea." - Isaiah 11:6-9.
Scenes such as this (see image) that are exceptional today will be the norm during the millennium.
The Lord Jesus will reign with power, faithfulness and justice:
"But with righteousness shall he judge the poor, and reprove with equity for the meek of the earth: and he shall smite the earth with the rod of his mouth, and with the breath of his lips shall he slay the wicked. And righteousness shall be the girdle of his loins, and faithfulness the girdle of his reins." - Isaiah 11:4-6
The people of Israel will rejoice.
Gone will be the swastikas, the ghettos, the confiscation of property and children [to be raised as Roman Catholics], the cries of "Out with the Christ killers!" and the diplomatic pressure to negotiate with murderers and terrorists:
"And I will rejoice in Jerusalem, and joy in my people: and the voice of weeping shall be no more heard in her, nor the voice of crying. And they shall build houses, and inhabit [them]; and they shall plant vineyards, and eat the fruit of them. They shall not labour in vain, nor bring forth for trouble; for they [are] the seed of the blessed of the LORD, and their offspring with them." - Isaiah 65: 19,21,23
Jews will be respected:
"Thus saith the LORD of hosts; In those days [it shall come to pass], that ten men shall take hold out of all languages of the nations, even shall take hold of the skirt of him that is a Jew, saying, We will go with you: for we have heard [that] God [is] with you." -Zechariah 8:23
No more trips to the Wailing Wall!!
"And it shall come to pass, that before they call, I will answer; and while they are yet speaking, I will hear." - Isaiah 65:24
The land of Israel, so abused over the centuries, will become beautiful and full of life:
"And it shall come to pass in that day, [that] the mountains shall drop down new wine, and the hills shall flow with milk, and all the rivers of Judah shall flow with waters, and a fountain shall come forth of the house of the LORD, and shall water the valley of Shittim." - Joel 3:18

There will be a river from the temple to the Dead Sea (Ezekiel 46:1-7), and the Dead Sea (image) will be healed - it will be no longer dead, but will teem with life (Ezekiel 47:8-10)
Jerusalem will be the spiritual headquarters of the world (Sorry Catholics and Muslims!):
"And it shall come to pass, [that] every one that is left of all the nations which came against Jerusalem shall even go up from year to year to worship the King, the LORD of hosts, and to keep the feast of tabernacles...And the inhabitants of one city shall go to another, saying, Let us go speedily to pray before the LORD, and to seek the LORD of hosts: I will go also. Yea, many people and strong nations shall come to seek the LORD of hosts in Jerusalem, and to pray before the LORD." - Zechariah 14:16, 8:21,22
The unrighteous of the seventieth week will be killed. However, sin has not been banished completely. People born in the millenium may be rebellious and so force may be necessary:

  • "he shall rule them with a rod of iron" - Revelation 19:15
  • "And it shall be, [that] whoso will not come up of [all] the families of the earth unto Jerusalem to worship the King, the LORD of hosts, even upon them shall be no rain." - Zechariah 14:17

Lifespans will increase:
"There shall be no more thence an infant of days, nor an old man that hath not filled his days: for the child shall die an hundred years old; but the sinner [being] an hundred years old shall be accursed." - Isaiah 65:20
For all those who think people turn out bad only because of unfavorable circumstances, the Millenium provides a dream world. When Christ takes charge of the world, He does what Al Gore and the rest of the earth-worshipers can't do - He fixes the earth's ecological problems and makes it an incredibly productive and healthy place. He brings in a time of peace and prosperity. What more could people want? So do they co-operate? NO!!
"And when the thousand years are expired, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison, And shall go out to deceive the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle: the number of whom is as the sand of the sea. And they went up on the breadth of the earth, and compassed the camp of the saints about, and the beloved city:" - Revelation 20:7-9
People choose to take Satan's side!! By the way, at this time, it seems all of us (the people of God who have been resurrected) will be taken to heaven, because we're mentioned as coming down later, in Revelation 21:1. Anyway, God does not waste much time with the rebellious human race:-
"fire came down from God out of heaven, and devoured them. And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever." - Revelation 20:9,10
