In the seventieth week, the beast (Antichrist) demands worship. He does not take kindly to Israel's refusal to worship his image. He gathers all the nations of the world (Revelation 16:14) to accomplish what they've always wanted - the final solution: the extermination of Israel. The battle front is Armageddon (Revelation 16:16), which perhaps refers to the plains of Megiddo (see image
); It is this area of land that Napoleon said is an ideal battleground, saying “all the armies of the world could maneuver their forces on this vast plain.” (Hal Lindsey with C.C. Carlson, The Late Great Planet Earth
, p. 164)
While the Antichrist is driven by fury against Israel, God himself is propelling the course of events forward:-
"I will also gather all nations, and will bring them down into the valley of Jehoshaphat" – Joel 3:2
Why is God doing this?Reason # 1:
The purification of Israel:-
"the Lord, whom ye seek, shall suddenly come to his temple, even the messenger of the covenant, whom ye delight in: behold, he shall come, saith the LORD of hosts. But who may abide the day of his coming? and who shall stand when he appeareth? for he is like a refiner’s fire, and like fullers’ soap: And he shall sit as a refiner and purifier of silver: and he shall purify the sons of Levi, and purge them as gold and silver, that they may offer unto the LORD an offering in righteousness." – Malachi 3:1-3
Many Israelis will die:-
"[Jerusalem] shall be taken, and the houses rifled, and the women ravished; and half of the city shall go forth into captivity, and the residue of the people shall not be cut off from the city...And it shall come to pass, that in all the land, saith the LORD, two parts therein shall be cut off and die; but the third shall be left therein. And I will bring the third part through the fire, and will refine them as silver is refined, and will try them as gold is tried: they shall call on my name, and I will hear them: I will say, It is my people: and they shall say, The LORD is my God." – Zechariah 14:2,8,9
Today's Israelis are mostly atheists. Even religious Jews obey rabbinical tradition rather than the "Tanach" (The Old Testament of the Bible) and reject "that man", Jesus of Nazareth, their rightful king. God is going to use war and persecution to destroy the incorrigible Israelis and turn the rest of Israel back to Him.Reason # 2:
"To plead with them [the nations] there for my people and for my heritage Israel" - Joel 3:2
What is God's complaint?
"They scattered Israel among the nations, and parted my land [so much for the "road map"]. They have cast lots for my people; and have given a boy for an harlot, and sold a girl for wine, that they might drink." - Joel 3:2,3
During Joel's time, both the highlighted items seemed implausible. The scattering of Israel
began in 722 BC when Shalmaneser king of Assyria destroyed the northern kingdom of Israel (2 Kings 17:1-6). This scattering was exacerbated in AD 70 when the Romans destroyed Jerusalem. The parting of God's land
is an event that has had to wait till the twentieth century for fulfillment. The British, acting under the directions of the League of Nations parted God's land and gave most of it to the Arabs. As this is being written, the Quartet (the US, EU, Britain and Russia) are trying very hard to part God's land and establish an Islamic terrorist state in it. The map
on the right shows the mess that the world's powers have made out of the land God calls "My Land". No other country in the world has such a contorted shape. This is an outrage against the God of Israel!!
People will pay dearly!!
God will make the nations pay for every deed and word done as part of anti-semitism! Just as the nations have shed Jewish blood for thousands of years, God will make their blood flow:
"Put ye in the sickle, for the harvest is ripe: come, get you down; for the press is full, the fats overflow; for their wickedness [is] great." – Joel 3:13
While Israel will suffer heavy losses, God will strengthen them to fight valiantly:-
"In that day, saith the LORD, I will smite every horse with astonishment, and his rider with madness: and I will open mine eyes upon the house of Judah, and will smite every horse of the people with blindness. And the governors of Judah shall say in their heart, The inhabitants of Jerusalem shall be my strength in the LORD of hosts their God. In that day will I make the governors of Judah like an hearth of fire among the wood, and like a torch of fire in a sheaf; and they shall devour all the people round about, on the right hand and on the left: and Jerusalem shall be inhabited again in her own place, even in Jerusalem... The LORD also shall roar out of Zion, and utter his voice from Jerusalem; and the heavens and the earth shall shake: but the LORD will be the hope of his people, and the strength of the children of Israel. So shall ye know that I am the LORD your God dwelling in Zion, my holy mountain: then shall Jerusalem be holy, and there shall no strangers pass through her any more." – Zechariah 12:3-6, Joel 3:15-17
Please look at all the Biblical passages quoted here and notice that the events described therein have never happened in the past. This has to refer to the end of the seventieth week!
